Alan trained at LAMDA. His recent theatre includes Barefoot in the Park at the Jermyn Street Theatre, The Importance of Being Ernest at the Theatre Royal, Haymarket and The Three Sisters for Birmingham Rep. He has appeared in An Enemy of the People, Wild Oats, Absolute Hell and The Seagull for the National Theatre and in various roles for the RSC. His roles for television include The Bill, Casualty, London's Burning, The Thin Blue Line and The Odyssey. His film work includes Young Sherlock Holmes, An Awfully Big Adventure, Mrs Dalloway and The Auteur Theory.
