YOUNG ARTHUR was a series pilot filmed on location in Prague, Czech Republic.   It was a made-for-television production by NBC, that was not shown. Hollywood Reporter said there had been 13 scripts ordered.

Stephen played Lord Vortigern.    [If they followed Geoffrey of Monmouth, according to the legend, it was Vortigern who discovered Merlin during the building of his tower.]

It was directed by Mikael Salomon (Far and Away, Backdraft, Always), and written by Remi Aubuchon (Chicago Hope) and Graham Yost (Band of Brothers, Hard Rain, Speed).

NBC's press release described 'Young Arthur' this way:

'The year is 592. Welcome to the School of Glamorgan for young men. Bright, mischievous 16-year-old Arthur of Salisbury and his cocky older brother Kay have journeyed here through the dark and dangerous forests of England. Known for its harsh discipline as well as the large crocodile-filled moat that surrounds the school, Glamorgan is now home to young Arthur and his new roommate, a dashing French teenager by name of Lancelot. Soon fast friends, Arthur and Lancelot meet sister and brother Morgana and Mordred, on whose vast land dwells the adjacent Girl's School.

Arthur also finds himself vexed by a mysterious, sinister warrior named Lord Vortigen. But Arthur has destiny on his side (though he doesn't know it), along with a magical wizard who will soon reveal himself to be Merlin. It is Merlin who has come from the future to battle arch-nemesis Lord Vortigen to determine the fate of the "future King of England".'

[Why would NBC spell 'Vortigern' without the 'r'??!! Funny they didn't drop the 'r' from 'Arthur', as well!]
