Gemma, at the time she was in the play with Stephen (May of 1997), was a pupil of the Jackie Palmer Stage School in High Wycombe. Her theatre work to that date included An Inspector Calls at the Aldwych Theatre and Alice in Alice's Adventures Underground at the Royal National Theatre. Her television work included One Foot in the Grave, Next of Kin and Helen in Jane Eyre, LWT.Am very pleased to report we have heard from Gemma and since GABRIEL, she has done the following work:
"Most recently I did a photo story for an educational textbook for other countries to learn English. I'm also in 'Tube Tales' which is a number of short films about the underground. I'm in 'Circle line' which involves school girls getting lost on the underground as their school teacher who was taking them on a trip got amnesia. It hasn't been shown yet. It was quite strange but fun to do. I'm still at Jackie Palmer Stage School and during the week I attend The Beaconsfield School where I'm starting on my two years of GCSEs. I am taking Drama among other subjects."
Regarding GABRIEL, Gemma had this to say:
"I have fond memories of doing Gabriel, in which I got to stab a man and do a bit of stage fighting! It was different to anything I'd ever done before and I'm grateful to Fiona for directing me so well and for giving me a chance. I've seen Stephen and Phillip on t.v since and I hope everyone else has done other things."Stephen's very nice. When I did Gabriel with him he had longer hair which he had to cut off for the part. Jennifer and I had to do a scene with him on a table. Jennifer and I had to carry him and lift him onto this table without hurting him which was quite difficult.
I did another scene where Estelle, my character had to kiss him (Stephen) and tell him I loved him, which I always dreaded doing because I was really shy and I must say I felt quite embarrassed!
