Episode No. 98117
Stephen plays Derrick Markham, the estranged husband of Amanda (Elizabeth Gracen). The two had married and separated 132 years previously during the course of a brutal kidnapping. At that time, Amanda had co-operated in the kidnapping but then betrayed Derrick to the police after she found out that he murdered the kidnap victim. In the modern era, Derrick is still in the kidnapping business. And Nick (Amanda's friend) helps thwart him in a modern day kidnapping. Derrick, in the course of attempting to retaliate, rediscovers Amanda. After several attempts by Derrick to wreak revenge on Amanda, Derrick is dispatched by Amanda in the climactic scene. [There are scenes in both eras, BTW. The story switches back and forth between them. Just in case the pictures below are confusing that way.]Derrick Markham is a vile and nasty villian, but ever so good to listen to and watch. Stephen is smooth as silk in this role, and the period clothing and sideburns are very dashing on him. He handles the sword with expertice, and the swordplay is exciting, spirited, and fun to watch! This one is NOT to be missed! For sure!
HOWEVER, if this is the first thing you have seen Stephen in, you should go and find The Man Who Made Husbands Jealous at your local video store!! Because without a doubt, Derrick Markham is Mr Hyde, to Lysander's Dr Jekyll. And after spending time with Derrick, you are going to need to spend some time with the lovely Lysander.

What Stephen had to say about "Highlander: The Raven":"I played an evil immortal and got to spend three weeks in Paris sword fighting," he laughs. "He got his head chopped off in the end !"(WHAT'S ON TV, April 1999)
"There was lots of sword fighting and heads getting chopped off" he says, laughing. "It was strange because we filmed in Paris but the flashbacks were set in Manchester !" (Woman's Own, May 1999)
Availability:
Highlander: The Raven (the entire series, including Stephen's episode) is available on DVD at amazon.com. You can order the series here. [ I searched amazon.co.uk, as well, but it doesn't show up there yet.] This DVD is for Zone 1.
This has aired in the States and UK. Also, UPN has been running re-runs on other episodes. This one may circle up again. So keep an eye on your local UPN Affiliate's TV schedule.
Also, this episode is apparently part of a boxed set of 'Highlander: The Raven'. Over at eBay, somebody was selling just 'Tape 9', which includes Stephen's episode of 'Love and Death' and another episode [not Stephen's] called 'Thick as Thieves'. [You can click up the little picture to see a larger picture of the box.] So far, I have not located a source for purchasing just
Tape 9 by itself.
