Cheshire-born, Moira Buffini was trained as an actor at The Welsh College of Music and Drama. She won a Time Out Award for her performance in Jordan, which she co-wrote with Anna Reynolds. It won the Writers' Guild Award for Best Fringe play, 1992. Since then, she has written Blavatskys Tower Temp for Carlton TV's City Lights series, and Melissa Malone, a screenplay for BBC Wales. She did a writers’ attachment at the Royal National Theatre Studio in 1996. Her first play, Blavatsky’s Tower, opened at the Flying Machine in March 1998, which she directed and which was Time Out’s Critics’ Choice.
