The Prophecy 4: Uprising

The Prophecy: Uprising, was filmed on location in Bucharest, Romania. In this fourth installment of 'The Prophecy' movies by Joel Soisson (producer of the entire Prophecy series, writer on 'Dracula II: Ascension), characters by Gregory Widen ('Highlander', 'Backdraft' and the 'Highlander' TV-Series) and story by John Sullivan (Fear of the Dark), Stephen Billington plays a priest named Ion (pronounced Yan), that becomes possessed by a spirit named Belial, who is bent on retrieving a book called the Lexicon. That book supposedly is written by God and though uncompleted, when completed will tell the end of the Book of Revelations. The book accidently falls into the hands of unsuspecting woman named Allison, played by Kari Wuhrer ('Deader').

When she calls her old friend Ion up to help her, that is when Belial, who has been following her, trying to get the book, takes control of Ion (Stephen Billington) while tending a nosebleed in the restroom. But before he returns, she is warned by voices in her head to escape, and she does. Ion goes to the police station looking for John Riegert, but before much of anything gets said, Ion's body has a seizure and Belial jumps to another body. At this point, Ion is dead, as John Riegert removes his heart, because as they told us earlier in the movie, they consider the heart the seat of the soul, and so doing makes the body uninhabitable for anybody else.

Unfortunately, at this point, my attention is irretrievable lost since they have now killed off Stephen Billington's character. So if you want to know how it ends, you'll just have to buy it or rent it!

As to the plot, Doug Bradley, who played Laurel, was quoted as saying:

'It’s fairly familiar in terms of the PROPHECY mythology as established in the earlier films. It continues the battle of the angels, the fallen angels; Lucifer is among them this time, and Belial, Lucifer’s old adversary, is pursuing him and flitting from host to host. He inhabits a variety of bodies as the film goes on, and mine becomes the last of his temporary resting places. It centers on an ongoing Book of Revelations, the idea being that Revelations was not the last word of the Bible—that it goes on, and is writing itself. It’s a pretty cool story."
